build one another up, just as you are doing,
Our loving Father,
Through disappointment, may we always see Your word as a light in a very dark world. Living in a nation turning away from you, and even parading our sins as Sodom, we pray that we as Your people will stand and never be silent against the evil in our nation. Facing despair, or persecution, strengthen our faith to know that you will never leave us. As we look at death coming, our trust will be in You.
We pray earnestly and confidently that You will support our efforts to preach and teach Your word. As Your church, great effort is being made to reach out over the world. Open our eyes to see that a special effort is needed to teach and preach in our nations Capitol and on each street that we live. Help us, Father, to say the things Jesus would say and say them in the way He would say them.
We are grateful, Father, for Your love. Teach us to love. Thank you for Your mercy. Strengthen our resolve to be merciful. We wonder at Your forgiveness. Grow our faith that we might be as forgiving.
Gracious Father, help us walk above the cares of this world and turn our faces and hearts to You that we might know Your life and light.
Through the Christ, our true light, Amen.
